The terms on which the site and its tools are offered.
Status: a plain-language draft that has not had legal review. It should be checked by a qualified person before the site relies on it.
Information, not advice
The pages describe tartans, clans, surnames and Scottish dress from published sources, with the evidence stated. We aim to be accurate and to mark what is uncertain, but the site is a reference, not a genealogical, legal or purchasing service. A family association shown here is a lead to check, not proof of descent or of any right to a tartan. Do not rely on a page alone for a decision with legal or financial consequences.
Tools
The Tartan Finder and the kilt size calculator give indicative results from the data and rules they contain. A size is a starting point: follow a kiltmaker's own measuring instructions when ordering. We are not responsible for a garment that does not fit.
Content and copyright
Text and original graphics on the site belong to TartanFoundry unless a page says otherwise. You may quote short passages with attribution and a link. Do not republish whole pages or reuse them to train or fill other sites without permission. Source works we cite belong to their owners. Tartan designs may have owners or restrictions of their own; a swatch here is an illustration and carries no licence to reproduce a design commercially.
Corrections and your contributions
If you send us information, we may use it to correct or improve the site, with credit where you ask for it and it is appropriate. Do not send material you do not have the right to share.

Links to other sites are offered for reference. We do not control or endorse them, and we are not responsible for their content.
Availability and liability
The site is provided as it is, without a warranty that it is complete, error-free or always available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using it. Nothing here limits a liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
